Thursday 14th July 2022, 6pm
Somerville College Chapel, Oxford
Financially supported by the Friends of Julian and with the help of Multitude of Voyces, the conference will open with a recital of a recently commissioned cycle of choral anthems based on selections from Julian’s Revelations.
Members of Somerville College Choir, directed by Will Dawes, will perform four contemporary anthems by women composers, each based on a phrase of Julian’s text:
- All shall be well, by Carol J. Jones
- Our Endless Day, by Hilary Campbell
- Love was his meaning, by Gemma McGregor
- We sekyn here rest, by Judith Weir
Dr Alison Daniell (University of Southampton) and Louise Stewart (Multitude of Voyces) will introduce the anthems and their story.
This event is part of the New Visions of Julian of Norwich conference, but is also open to non-delegates and is free of charge. Registration is required: please register here.
